2013 could be rough for ticket sales Dan Leberfeld

You get the sense that 2013 is going to be a rough year for ticket sales in pro sports.

Two legendary sports franchises, that usually do very well at the gate, admitted recently that it’s been a tough year so far.

“It’s rougher than in years past… It’s rough for the Yankees,” Yankees COO Lon Trost told WFAN’s Mike Francesa.

In Boston, season-ticket sales are down for the Rex Sox.

The Jets and other NFL teams are definitely in for a battle to fill their stadiums this year.

The economy is bad, and many people clealry don’t have as much disposable income compared to past years.

One factor that could be hurting ticket sales is the recent increase in the payroll tax, which has led to people getting smaller paychecks.
