New Jersey – Reggie Bush clearly can’t stand the Jets, but what he said after the game wasn’t accurate. Also we look at Sanchez-Tebow . . .
Reggie Bush said after Miami’s win over the Jets – “I think once we got them early, they kind of laid down a little bit.”
I think he’s 100 percent wrong on this one.
This nonsense is becoming cliché – they quit when they got down.
I saw no quit in the Jets on Sunday.
That wasn’t an issue.
What happened in this game is simple – the special teams dug a whole this team could not deal with.
The Jets’ offense isn’t built to come back from big deficits. I don’t mean to be flip, but it’s hard to come back when your quarterback is inaccurate, too many passes are hitting the ground.
But this wasn’t a lack of effort, but a special teams collapse, and inaccurate quarterbacking.
I’m not saying all the offensive woes against Miami where the fault of Sanchez, but he leaves too many plays on the field with his accuracy problems.
Here are a few examples.
On the first pass of Jets second drive, Sanchez threw a quick slant to Stephen Hill – it was behind him, and it easily knocked away by CB Sean Smith.
Early in the second quarter, on third-and-one, Sanchez threw a pass too high to Jeremy Kerley to end the drive. Honestly Tony Sparano probably should called a run here, but that is still no excuse for Mark’s accuracy on this short pass.
Later in the second quarter, on a second down play, Sanchez was off target to Shonn Greene over the short middle.
These are all short throws that should be money in the bank. Sanchez has to make these throws. These kinds of misses are a big reason his completion percentage is so low . . .
So why are the Jets sticking with Sanchez. Simple. The next two games are very winnable, and they want to give Sanchez the chance to the chance to get the Jets back to .500. If they lose one of these two, they are probably done, so then they will think about a change to Tim Tebow or Greg McElroy at that point.
Seattle does have a great home field advantage, but let’s not forget they are starting a 5-10 rookie quarterback, and they are ravaged by injuries are wide receiver.
Doug Baldwin might miss the Jets’ game with a high ankle sprain. Braylon Edwards missed Seattle’s last game with a knee injury. Ben Obomanu was just put on IR.
This is a very, very winnable game.
So is St. Louis the week after that. The Rams are another very banged up team.
The Jets can absolutely sweep these two games. I’m not saying it will be easy, but I would not be shocked if the Jets get to 5-5.
Another factor that is clearly making the Jets with Sanchez, aside from his enormous contract, is the Jets didn’t like what they saw from Tebow in the preseason running Tony’s regular offense, so they don’t think he’s an upgrade at this point.
If this season heads south, you will likely see Greg McElroy at some point late in the season . . .

Who is the older gentleman on the far left?
That is former NFL official Art Art McNally, who now works for the league at certain games in an oversight role.
