Could they really start 0-9?

What to make of this powerful prediction about the Jets and how they might start the season . . .

“Their season is going to be over before the bye,” said Brady Quinn on the CBS Sports Network. “I mean that is just the reality of it. They play the entire AFC North and they might go 0-4 [to start the season]. I mean, there is a realistic scenario where they’re 1-8, maybe 0-9.”

I’m not sure why so many people are making their first four games an unwinnable nightmare for the Jets. All those teams are in the AFC North. So? Who is playing QB for the Cleveland Browns in Week Two? Who is playing QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week Four? Obviously, Baltimore and Cincinnati should be tough foes, but remember the Ravens have a bunch of key players coming off serious injuries, so they could be rusty in Week One, and the Jets beat the Bengals last year.

Hey, of course the Jets could start off 0-4, but not sure the NFC North is as unbeatable over the first four games as some would lead you to believe.

As for 1-8, 0-9, Jets’ home games against Miami in Week 5, and against New England in Week 8, should fall into the category of “winnable games.”

We will see what happens.

That is why you play the games.
