The Jets secondary played well against Green Bay, but they did luck out a little on some passes that were just a little off-the-mark . . .
Brodney Pool broke up a pass to WR Donald Driver over the middle to end the first drive. Pool was called for pass interference on WR Greg Jennings on pass over middle late in the second quarter. Pool missed a tackle on a Brandon Jackson gain of 27 late in the first half. If he made the tackle the gain would have been cut in half.
Dwight Lowery had a PD on TE Andrew Quarless on the right side to end the second drive. On the first play of the Packers last possession of the first half, Lowery had a sack on a blitz.
Jennings beat Darrelle Revis for a gain of 12 on the right side on the first play of the Packers third possession. On the Packers first possession of the second have, Jennings caught a pass for 11 yards over the middle between Revis and Leonhard.
Drew Coleman had a poor play at the end of the first quarter. For some reason he stopped, and Greg Jennings cut away from him into the middle of the field and picked up 30 yards on the reception. Coleman seemed to have some assignment confusion.
Early in the second quarter, a Drew Coleman blitz was picked up, and the Packers took advantage of the Jets shorthanded secondary and hit WR Jordy Nelson for a gain of 16 on Jim Leonhard (and David Harris), in a zone concept. On the next play, Coleman had terrific coverage on Jennings on a deep pass down the left sideline.
Early in the third quarter, Coleman was flagged for pass interference on Nelson on a deep pass down the left sideline. But since Aaron Rogers left the pocket, the penalty was overturned. If a quarterback leaves the pocket, defenders are a lot to basically do whatever they want to receivers.
Jennings beat Coleman for a gain of 11 late in third quarter. On a third-and-six in the middle of the fourth quarter, Nelson beat Coleman for a gain of 14 over the middle.
WR Brett Swain surprisingly beat Antonio Cromartie for a gain of 12 on the short left side. I know we are dealing with humans, but the Packers fifth receiver shouldn’t be beating Cro. Cro lucked out a little late in the third quarter when a pass to WR James Jones went off his finger tips down the right sideline. Cro was beat on this play. The horrid wind at the New Meadowlands (poorly constructed from a wind standpoint) impacted Rogers accuracy.
