Fremont – Dan checks in from Northern California with some show notes and Jets tidbits heading into Sunday’s action . . .
The Bills beat the Raiders on a TD pass to David Nelson where he was wide open in the end zone.
What happened on the play?
“Half of them were playing zone cover, and the other half man-to-man,” said Bills color-analyst Mark Kelso, a former safety. Fair to say, that is a problem . . .
The Miami Dolphins also problems in their secondary isn’t playing very well, and two corners are going to miss their game in Cleveland – Vontae Davis and Will Allen . . .
While New England has been impressive in their first two games, you can throw on them. Last week, San Diego’s Phillip Rivers completed nine passes for 15 yards or more . . .
It’s hard to figure how the Buffalo Bills are going to cover New England tight end Rob Gronkowski (who is actually from Buffalo).
The Bills linebackers aren’t particularly fast. The corps features a bunch of veterans. Dustin Keller should be able to take advantage of them down the road . . .
It’s very hard to figure what Pete Carroll is doing in Seattle. He moves on from Matt Hasselbeck (who instantly makes Tennessee a playoff contender) to go with Tavaris Jackson?
Perhaps he’s angling for Andrew Luck.
Carroll and his GM John Schneider have made some dubious personnel decisions since taking over in Seattle.
Pro Football Weekly wrote they getting along to which Carroll replied that he never heard of Pro Football Weekly . . .
Baltimore’s cornerback situation isn’t great. They gave up close to 400 yards to Tennessee last week. First round pick Jimmy Smith is out of the lineup with an ankle injury.
I mentioned before that New England’s pass defense isn’t great either.
So for this three game Jets road trip, the Jets should be able to throw the ball.
But can Sanchez take advantage of it? It’s not always a slam dunk with him that he can exploit these kind of scenarios. He didn’t exactly light up Jacksonville (and threw two picks), and the Jags were without a starting corner Derek Cox, and one of their starting safeties was benched for Dwight Lowery this week.
We shall see . . .
Looking around the league at a lot of suspect cornerback scenarios, the Jets are very fortunate to have Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Very fortunate . . .
The Jets stayed in Santa Clara . . .
The reason Tony Romo has a fractured rib and punctured lung is that his rookie right tackle, Tyron Smith, was beat by San Francisco 49er OLB Ahmad Brooks, who nailed the quarterback.
I didn’t see the Jets really do much against the kid in the opener . . .
There is a pulled hamstring/groin epidemic around the league, but the Jets are in good shape in this department.
Kudo to their new strength coach – Bill Hughan . . .
Hydration with stressed big-time all week at Jets camp with the trip cross-country . . .
Just heard a commercial on a Bay area radio station – “Cannabis Expo” – coming to the Cow Palace next week. Only in California . . .
