Harold Lewis, the agent for Bart Scott, made a good point in a New York Post article by Brian Costello.
Scott was asked to take a $1 million pay cut last summer to help the Jets sign other players to improve the team, but it didn’t work out that way.
“Bart loves being a Jet,” Lewis said. “But a lot of guys gave back a lot of money last year — a lot of money, millions of dollars. That money was supposed to be used to get players to improve the team to win the Super Bowl.”
The point being – the Jets asked players do take pay cuts for the betterment of the team, and that was far from what happened.
