Best to avoid a bunch of waiver claims right now

The Jets didn’t claim any players from other teams on the NFL cut down to 53.

And that’s probably a smart thing this year.

It’ll be hard enough to get players up to speed who were in camp, with limited practice time, and no preseason games, so why bring in new guys now, who know nothing about what your doing?

Just keep working with the guys you have, for now.

One former Jets GM used to call waiver claims at the final cut-down a “mini-draft.”

Well it was best for the Jets to avoid the “mini-draft” this year.

There are going to be enough continuity challenges with the guys who were already here, after so little prep time, so why add to it?
