How about this tandem?

The Jets have begun the interview process for their vacant GM and head coaching spots.

Two guys they’d like to talk to are both with Baltimore – offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak and assistant GM Eric DeCosta.

You know what, this wouldn’t be a bad tag-team to bring to the Jets.

To me, the Jets should hire a head coach this time around, who has been a head coach before. After three straight coordinators who had to learn on the job, it’s time for the Jets to bring in a guy who knows how to be a head coach from the second he walks in the building. After four years of missing the playoffs, this is a bad time in Jets history to bring in a head coaching novice.

Kubiak was the Houston Texans’ head coach from 2006-2013, after serving as the long-time offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos. He has a terrific offensive mind, and knows the whys and wherefores of being a head coach.

DeCosta has been a hot GM candidate for the last few years. He has been working for the Ravens in personnel for 17 years. DeCosta is the heir apparent to GM Ozzie Newsome, but it’s unclear when “The Wizard” is going to retire. If Woody Johnson blows him away financially, and gives him total control of the football operation, perhaps the Jets could land DeCosta.

A DeCosta/Kubiak combo to the Jets. Not a bad idea.
