I don’t think this is the reason

Rex Ryan was asked why he won’t give out more injury information to the media at his presser today.

“I just think it will be more accurate and a complete injury update (on Wednesday) instead of just speculating on this player (or) that player,” Ryan said. “I think it would be better to get the correct information I would assume than to throw something out there that comes back and maybe necessarily isn’t the case. I think if I have more accurate information, it would probably be the best thing to do.”

I think there is more to it than that.

John Idzik doesn’t want him to be as open with the media on injuries as in the past, and that is his right. It’s actually a competitive disadvantage for team to give out injury information on Monday.

And with the NFL rules, you don’t have to report anything on injuries until Wednesday, when the first report comes out.

But to claim the team is doing it for accuracy reasons – that is window-dressing.

Idzik is cutting down on the information flow to the media. He’s taking more of a New England approach.

That is what is going on here.

I’m not complaining. I’m just telling you what is going on.
