The New York Jets signed quarterback Davis Webb to their practice squad. The announcement was made by Brian Costello of the New York Post.
While Webb couldn’t get to Kyle Lauletta’s level in the eyes of the Giants’ decision-makers, he had a solid summer with the G-Men.
He’s a good insurance policy for the Jets behind Sam Darnold and Josh McCown, in case something happens to one or both of them.
But also, if McCown retires after this season, Webb could be a good backup to Darnold in 2019.
Webb has great size (6-5, 229), a strong arm and had a heck of a senior year for the Cal Bears in 2016 (4,295 yards, 37 TD, 12 INT).
Looks look a smart move by Mr. Coffee.
