Is Robert Saleh big on analytics?

Analytics has become a big part of the football world. What does Jets coach Robert Saleh think of analytics?

“I’m an analytics nerd,” Saleh said.

Running the Jets analytics show is a former Princeton receiver.

“Brian Shields is the head honcho with regards to analytics,” Saleh said. “I think he does a phenomenal job. He gives us an analytical breakdown every Monday, things that offenses or defenses are struggling with, how to exploit certain parts of the field, different players.”

Is it all usable?

“Some things we can’t use, some things we can,” Saleh said. “So we’ll implement them to our game plans as we see fit.”

Shields is also a big help in the draft process.

“He’s got all kinds of information with regards to their ability to play, the way they tested and how it intertwines with their play ability and he gives his analytical report,” Saleh said.

So yes, Saleh is a big fan of analytics.
