Brodney Pool (knee) is iffy for Sunday, and if he can’t go, Emanuel Cook will be the Jets third safety.
But Cook is also dealing with a knee issue.
He left the locker room on Thursday with an ice bag on this right knee . . .
Jets beat writer Dennis Waszak was asked by another AP scribe if he could get him a quote from wide receiver Plaxico Burress on Eli Manning, his former Giants teammate.
Manning is having one of his best seasons, and AP scribe is doing a feature on him for the wire.
Waszak asked Burress what he thought of Eli’s season, and the wide receiver responded, “I’m not talking about Eli.”
Waszak tried again, politely, phrasing the question a different way.
“I’m not talking about Eli.”
Burress reportedly isn’t happy with Eli, who never reached out to him while he was in jail . . .
Jets backup center/guard Robert Turner was walking around today with no brace on his broken lower leg, and looks like he’s close to being 100 percent.
But it’s too late. He was already put on IR. Remember, the Jets initially were going to hold a spot for Turner, let him heal, and not go on IR, but they pulled the plug on that strategy last month . . .
While Shonn Greene got hit in the head in Buffalo, and had to leave the game due to dizziness, he didn’t suffer a concussion.
He passed the concussion test on the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium, but since the Jets were so far ahead, they didn’t feel any urgency to put him back in the game in the fourth quarter . . .
Jarron Gilbert’s locker and name plate are still in tact in the Jets locker room, so perhaps he’s going to return. He was released earlier this week so the Jets could sign WR/KR Dexter Jackson to their practice squad . . .
There is a lot of talk about Darrelle Revis-Wes Welker matchup being a key.It is, and the Jets needs Revis to play better than he did in Buffalo.
It wasn’t one of his better games.
He had four bad plays – the 52-yarder to Stevie Johnson, the 26-yarder to Johnson, a holding penalty on Johnson and he also missed a tackle on a Fred Jackson 26-yard catch-and-run.
Everyone has a bad game, but he better not have two in a row – the Jets need him to come up huge this week . . .
With so much focus on Welker, there isn’t enough talk about veteran wide receiver Deion Branch, who really hurt the Jets in the first matchup.
Branch soundly beat Antonio Cromartie for a touchdown, beat Kyle Wilson on a deep out, and almost beat Revis for a touchdown, but the throw was a little off the mark.
The Jets had major issues with Branch in the first matchup, and need to get their coverage of the Louisville-product tightened up a little bit.
