Aside from QB, this might be the biggest need on the Jets.
The old regime was big on undersized one-gappers who were too easily neutralized when blockers got their hands on them. The number of times the Jets were gashed up the middle against the run in recent years was astounding.
The Jets need to add some 320-pound types with thick trunks, brute power, and solid anchor strength to hold the point of attack. They need guys who can clog the middle, control double teams, and consistently envelope ball carriers.
They did bring in two guys like this last year in Javon Kinlaw and Leku Fotu, but Kinlaw is a little inconsistent with high-pad-level issues and Fotu could not stay healthy, which was a problem the year before in Arizona.
This is a huge need because nobody played on a Pro Bowl level last season against the run.
Two free agents who could be considerations for the Jets are 6-3, 311-pound B.J. Hill (Cincinnati Bengals) or 6-4, 328-pound Bobby Brown (Los Angeles Rams).
