If Jets want to go on run, they better fix this

Quietly, during a pretty good streak for the Jets’ defense, this area has been average.

Talking about their run defense over the last month.

They have lost three of four games during this stretch, and there’s been a narrative that their defense has done its part, but they need more from the offense.

That was certainly the case in the Jets’ 10-3 loss at New England, but even in that game, their run defense wasn’t great. Here are the Jets opponents’ rushing totals for the last four games:

11/20 – New England – 26 carries for 99 yards.

11/27 – Chicago – 29 carries for 127 yards.

12/4 – Minnesota – 29 carries for 128 yards.

12/11 – Buffalo – 24 carries for 102 yards.

There has been a consistent problem with big holes opening up on inside runs.

The Jets better figure out how to improve this area with Detroit’s dynamic duo of running backs Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift coming to town.
