Jets Game Notes

Running Game:

The Green & White rushing attack amassed 154 yards on 42 attempts (3.7 avg.) and two touchdowns, with seven different players carrying the football. The Jets went 3-0 in 2013 when the team rushed the ball over 40 times. In the last four games, they averaged 165.5 rushing yards per game.

Bilal Powel:

RB Bilal Powell finished with 76 rushing yards and 30 passing yards on a completion to TE Jeff Cumberland in the fourth-quarter that set up a K Nick Folk 35-yard field goal and increased the Jets lead to 17-7.

Sheldon Richardson:

DT Sheldon Richardson recorded his second-career touchdown on a one-yard run to put the Jets on the scoreboard in the second quarter and cap off a 10-play, 71-yard, 5:21-drive. It is his second rushing touchdown of the season and tied DL William “Refrigerator” Perry for the most rushing touchdowns scored in a season and career by a defensive lineman. The play made him the first Jets defensive player to score two offensive touchdowns in the same season.

The Defense:

New York’s defense held Miami’s offense to seven points, the fewest point total the Jets defense surrendered this season. The defense also forced three turnovers on three interceptions, the most turnovers the team caused in a single game in 2013. The last time the Jets had three interceptions in a game was in Week One in 2012 (9/9), when the Green & White defeated Buffalo, 48-28.

Dee Milliner:

CB Dee Milliner recorded his second-career interception when he dove in front of a QB Ryan Tannehill pass in the third quarter, halting the Dolphins drive at the NYJ 22-yard line. Late in the fourth quarter Milliner sealed the Jets victory when he picked off Tannehill again for his first-career multiple-interception game. Milliner’s two interceptions marked the first time a Jets defender had two picks in game since Darrelle Revis had two interceptions vs. MIA in 2011 (10/27). It was his third interception in the last two weeks. Additionally, Milliner has registered 10 PD in the last two games.

Ed Reed:

With 4:18 left in the game, S Ed Reed intercepted his third pass as a Jet when he picked off Tannehill’s pass intended for WR Marion Moore and returned it 17 yards to the MIA 26-yard line. The interception would lead to a Folk 26-yard field goal to extend New York’s lead to 20-7. Reed has three picks in the last four games and 64 for his career, the most among active players.
