Jets interest in Coleman is surprising Dan Leberfeld
The Jacksonville Jaguars released cornerback Drew Coleman this week.
He was cut one year into a three-year deal he signed with Jacksonville in 2011.
They had seen enough.
Coleman is a terrific guy, the kind person you want on your team. He’s also very tough for his size, and is a good tackler and blitzer.
But he’s wildly inconsistent in coverage, and he gave up a number of big plays during his time with the Jets. He has average eyes and is slow to diagnose, and is often caught playing catch-up.
For the Jets to be interested in bringing him back is surprising.
