Jets players screen Ryan movie

Rex Ryan is in Adam Sandler’s upcoming comedy “THAT’S MY BOY” which will be released nationally by Columbia Pictures on June 15. The movie also stars Andy Samberg, Will Forte, Vanilla Ice, Leighton Meester, James Caan and David Spade.

Coach Ryan, several of his assistant coaches, about 25-30 Jets players and members of the team’s front office attended a private screening of “THAT’S MY BOY” last night in Hanover, NJ. The screening was made available to Ryan and the Jets by Columbia Pictures. It was the first time that Ryan has seen the film and gotten a chance to critique his acting. Actually, Ryan’s part ended up being fairly large, and he appears in at least three different scenes.

In “THAT’S MY BOY,” Sandler portrays Donny, who, while still in his teens, fathered a son, Todd (Samberg), and raised him as a single parent until Todd’s 18th birthday. Now, after not seeing each other for years, Todd’s world comes crashing down on the eve of his wedding when an uninvited Donny suddenly shows up. Trying desperately to reconnect with his son, Donny is now forced to deal with the repercussions of his bad parenting skills. In the film, Ryan ironically plays a cheesy lawyer who is a diehard New England Patriots fan. Ryan’s character is named “Jim Nance” (in honor of the legendary 1960’s Patriots running back), and he has a giant Tom Brady poster on his office wall and a Bill Belichick bobble-head doll on his desk.
