Jets website reporter on the team’s cornerback situation.

Eric Allen, a reporter on newyorkjets.com, had this to say about the team’s cornerback situation this year . . .

“Deficiencies in the defensive backfield have hamstrung the unit all year. Counting on Dee Milliner to step up as the team’s No. 1 cornerback, (John) Idzik elected not to spend big money as corners such as (Darrelle) Revis and Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie were available on the free agency market. Fans clamored for a Revis reunion, but the perennial All-Pro joined the Jets’ arch-nemesis instead. While showing interest in DRC, the Jets let Antonio Cromartie walk in free agency and join the Cardinals. Milliner tore his Achilles against the Broncos. Free-agent signee Dimitri Patterson never played a regular-season game. And third-round pick Dexter McDougle tore his ACL in camp.”

Some people have speculated that these blunt words on the team’s website mean a decision has already been made about the team’s GM.

We will find out Monday.

Or perhaps sooner, if an NFL insider, is leaked something (not necessarily directly from the Jets), on Sunday morning, for a pre-game show.
