Kellen Winslow II on Jets radar Dan Leberfeld
The Jets are going to bring tight end Kellen Winslow II to their veteran mini-camp next week for a tryout.
He only played one game last season, for New England Patriots, before asking for his release.
From 2009-2011, in Tampa Bay, he played very well with 77, 66 and 75 catches, respectively.
The Buccaneers traded him to Seattle last May after Winlsow II ripped coach Greg Schiano.
He ended up getting cut the Seahawks in September because he wouldn’t take a salary reduction.
Winslow has had issues with his right knee after a motorcycle accident in Cleveland in 2005.
He’s not a good fit for every team because he’s brash and outspoken, so he was a bad match with Bill Belichick and Schiano.
But he could be a good fit for the Jets, because Rex Ryan generally believes in freedom of speech.
