Man, do the Jets need this guy to be difference-maker

How long have they been looking for one?

Some would argue since trading John Abraham to the Atlanta Falcons in 2006.

Talking about a game-wrecking edge-rusher.

So the selection of Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson with the 26th pick of the first round (after trading up), could be huge for them.

Not to put too much pressure on Johnson, but they need him to be special, and finally fill this long-standing need for Gang Green.

They believe he’s an ideal fit for their defensive scheme.

“You are going to wreak havoc in this system,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said to Johnson after the Jets picked him. “It’s tailor-made for your size, your length, your speed, your tenacity. You landed in the perfect spot.”

“I’m so fired up for you, fired up for us, this is a perfect fit, man,” Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich said to Johnson after the pick.

They certainly hope it turns out to be perfect.

Because as that old Chicago song goes, they’ve “been searching so long to find an answer.”
