Mehta promoted at Daily News #nyj Dan Leberfeld

According to Jason McIntyre of the “The Big Lead,” the Daily News is promoting writer Manish Mehta.

“Jets fans – same NYDN peeps who told me Hoops Weiss was laid off are saying @MMehtaNYDN is moving off NY Jets beat. New role will be ‘NFL Insider’ (w focus on big-picture Jets stuff). Finally, a good NFL columnist there,” tweeted McIntyre.

Mehta is being rewarded for breaking numerous stories over the last two years, thanks to his myriad sources in the building, that reportedly included former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, and a prominent defensive back on the team.

They Jets couldn’t stop him, they could only hope to contain him.

Mehta will still be around the Jets quite a bit in his new role.

It would be fair to assume that Seth Walder will replace him as the Jets’ beat writer.
