Makes a heck of a lot of sense

Before Robert Saleh joined the Jets, he worked for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017-20.

The right tackle for that team was/is Mike McGlinchey, who the 49ers picked ninth overall in the 2018 draft.

So he was actually picked higher than Mekhi Becton, who was picked 11th overall, in the 2020 draft, by the Jets.

And McGlinchey was picked to play right tackle in the same offensive system the Jets play.

Right tackles in this system (or any system for that matter), are darn important, and how much they are getting paid these days, is proof of that. Look at the checks Lane Johnson (Philadelphia), Jack Conklin (Cleveland) and Trenton Brown (New England) have been cashing at the right tackle position.

As you know by now, the Jets are moving Becton to right tackle.

Becton could turn into a heck of a right tackle, and end up making a lot of money on his second contract.

The perception of the right tackle position has changed from the past.
