“7 late-round NFL draft picks likely to exceed expectations in 2018.”
This was the headline of a recent NFL.com story by draft analyst Lance Zeirlein. A player named was one of the Jets’ 2018 sixth-round picks, CB Parry Nickerson.
“If you like speed, quickness and ball production, you’ll find Nickerson intriguing,” wrote Zeirlein. “In my estimation, Nickerson’s game tape was of the quality of a Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) pick, but concerns about his slight frame might have scared some teams and pushed him to Day 3.
“Buster Skrine is the incumbent slot corner for the Jets, but if he gets injured or is benched due to ineffectiveness, Nickerson will get those snaps and is unlikely to relinquish the position.”
