NFL website calls Sanchez deal an “apology” contract Dan Leberfeld

The league’s website, NFL.com continues to go after the Jets.

Here is what Gregg Rosenthal, of NFL.com, wrote about a supposed rift between Rex Ryan and Woody Johnson over “Hard Knocks,” reported by Jets insider, Adam Schein.

In reporting this story, Rosenthal took a few shots at the Jets’ owner.

“The disagreement won’t help change the perception that Johnson is more interested in attention than winning a title,” wrote Rosenthal. “There was some belief in New York that the Jets’ ‘apology’ contract for Mark Sanchez was in part driven by Johnson’s desire for positive public relations. The moves to acquire Brett Favre and Tim Tebow smacked of seeking headlines.”
