Owens probably did the right thing Dan Leberfeld

According to NFP’s Aaron Wilson, CFL wide receiver/returner Chad Owens turned down an offer from the Jets, and re-upped with the Toronto Argonauts.

Owens probably saw the fate of fellow CFL wide receiver/returner Larry Taylor last summer, and figured he would be wasting his time going to Florham Park.

Taylor had a good summer, but was cut anyway, since the Jets had drafted Joe McKnight.

With punt returner Jim Leonhard returning from a broken leg, kick returner McKnight entering his second season, and the Jets likely re-signing kick returner Brad Smith, Owens probably figured, “why waste my time?”

Owens signed a new two-year contract with the Argos.
