Wide receiver Derrick Mason is now a Jet.
“His numbers speak for themselves,” Rex Ryan said. “He’s a great competitor. He’s familiar with the system because Cam Cameron and B-Schotty run similar systems. We were in a battle with two other teams, but he wanted to come here. We are fortunate to have him. He is a great competitor. He is going to be a great fit.”
Ryan claims that the two other bidders (Tennessee and Baltimore) offered Mason more money.
“We were not going to be up there with the two other teams,” Ryan said. “You look at Derrick where he is at in his career, he wanted to come here. He loved the electricity in the building, that was appealing to him. After football, if you want to go into broadcasting, New York is here.”
