Starting today, NFL teams have 15 days to put the franchise (and other tags) on free agents.
The most likely target for the franchise tag in Jets-Land is tight end Dustin Keller.
He has made it clear he doesn’t want to be tagged.
But it’s in the CBA, so even if the player is against it, it’s a good strategy to use, until you can work out a long-term deal.
And the tight end franchise tag this year costs $5.962 million, a relatively low figure compared to other positions.
