Sleeper candidate for special teams job

Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica left today to take the same job with the Washington Redskins.

One possible replacement could be Jets assistant special teams coach Louis Aguiar.

But here is another name to consider – Bobby April III.

April was a defensive quality control coach for the Jets last year, after spending the previous two seasons on the staff of Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to landing in Philly, he spent one season at Nicholls State (2010) as the special teams coach, and before that he was the special teams coordinator at Portland State for three years.

He grew up around special team’s. His father, Bobby April II, is a long-time NFL special teams coach, who is currently with the Oakland Raiders.
