Tannenbaum ends the dreams of two players

The New York Jets have waived LB Eddie Jones and S DeAngelo Smith. The announcements were made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Jones (6-3/260/Texas/Kilgore, TX) played in one game for the Jets, at New England (10/9/11), and spent time on both the Jets and Rams practice squads in 2011. Jones re- joined New York as a reserve/future free agent (1/9/12).

Smith (S/5-11/200/Cincinnati/Columbus, OH) entered the NFL as a fifth-round selection of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2009 draft. Smith spent time with the Cowboys, Browns, Bears, and Lions, and saw action in seven games with Detroit during the 2009 season. Smith signed with the Jets as a free agent (4/16/12).
