The Jets’ rival, the Miami Dolphins, have been trying to figure out how to build a championship-quality team for quite a few years. Just like the Jets, their Super Bowl glory was many years ago.
Dolphins offensive tackle Terron Armstead, one of the smartest players in the league, was recently asked what Miami needs to do to take the next step, and his sage words also apply to the Jets.
Armstead feels that turning things around takes “buy-in” from more than just the players.
“It takes total buy-in from everyone, not just the players – players, coaches, staff, trainers, equipment,” Armstead said. “There are only three or four teams that have that every year and usually those are the final four – they are all after one common goal. There is no individual success that is driving anyone. Those teams that are consistently successful – it’s hard to do, but necessary to win.”
It “takes a village” to use an old political saying. EVERYTHING MATTERS! When it comes to turning around a culture, everyone in the building has to be on board.
