The sad part of preseason

Long shot players have to be near perfect to make a roster, like Wayne Chrebet was in the summer of 1995.

The anointed players can make a ton of mistakes, and still make the team.

One of the saddest things I saw tonight was rookie wide receiver Zach Rogers leaving the locker room

He looked disconsolate.

He fumbled a punt late in the game that the Philadelphia Eagles recovered.

He also dropped a pass.

These are the kind of plays that can stick in your craw the rest of your life.

Honestly, if it’s any consolation, and I don’t mean this to be flip, but I don’t think Rogers was going to make the team, regardless of what he did tonight.

I doubt that eases the pain.
