The Ringer’s Todd McShay was critical of Jets owner Woody Johnson.
“You’re not winning with that owner – period – you’re not winning with that owner as long as Woody Johnson is there and meddling,” McShay said on the Triple Option Podcast.
So McShay is essentially saying, “you’re not winning with that owner” as long as he’s “meddling.”
Well, what if he doesn’t “meddle?”
Johnson has vowed to be a better owner moving forward.
“I have to look in the mirror, and I have to be a better owner,” Johnson said recently. “I’m trying to be better.”
So if Johnson changes his approach, and doesn’t meddle, and lets Aaron Glenn lead the team and the cultural reboot, maybe they can win with this owner.
Time will tell, but McShay, who is close with Joe Douglas, a former teammate on the Richmond football team, perhaps left an opening for the Jets to be successful – if Woody does not meddle.
With alpha dog, no-nonsense Glenn leading the way, maybe he won’t.
We shall see.
