This should help the Jets scouting for the draft

What an amazing scouting opportunity the Jets have

with their coaching staff getting the chance to coach one of the team’s in the 2022 Senior Bowl.

With so many draft picks at their disposal (two each in the first, second, fourth and fifth rounds), this will give the Jets’ coaches (and scouts) a great opportunity to get unique access to a bunch of draftable prospects, since they will be coaching them all week in practice and the game. While anybody can see the practices and game (on February 5), the Jets staff will be the only people in the meetings with their Senior Bowl squad. The San Francisco 49ers coached at the 2019 Senior Bowl, and their GM John Lynch feels it helped their draft evaluation process.

“(The players) are in a high-stress situation,” said Lynch. “There’s a lot going on, and there’s a lot at stake for all of them. We get to see how they’re going to respond, and we get to do it with the added bonus of being in the meeting rooms.”

The Senior Bowl experience won’t necessarily help the Jets with their two first-round picks. The Jets have two picks in the top ten, and it’s rare that you get top ten prospects at the Senior Bowl, but you do get a lot of guys who go in the late first round and beyond, so selections like their two high second-round picks, could be aided by coaching in the Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl is often loaded with guys who go in the second round.
