What did you expect him to say?

What were they supposed to say at this point?

New Jets receiver Corey Davis was asked about the Jets’ quarterback situation today.

“The situation, it is what it is,” said Davis. “Obviously I’m coming in with my understanding that Sam is the guy. That doesn’t scare me away at all. I’ve seen Sam do great things.”

He was asked a follow question on whether he believes Darnold will be his QB come September, he said: “That’s my understanding, correct.”

Look, I have no idea who the Jets QB is going to be, but at this point, with Darnold the incumbent, and the draft not taking place yet, what did you expect the Jets’ brass to say to Davis: “We are moving on Darnold, and drafting Zach Wilson?”

Darnold is the quarterback right now, but of course that can change. Davis knows that. His quarterback in Tennessee was Marcus Mariota, and then all of a sudden it was Ryan Tannehill.

Once again, I have no idea who the Jets’ quarterback is going to be in 2021.

But one thing I do know is the Jets need to start winning after missing the playoffs 10 straight years.

And in a quarterback-driven league, you generally need to make the right QB choice to make the playoffs, whoever that might be. That’s the bottom line.
