Why now?

QB Aaron Rodgers broke his silence today about the Jets moving on from him during an ESPN interview.

“The confusing thing to me is I went out there, I meet with the coach (Aaron Glenn), we start talking. He runs out of the room. I’m like, that’s kind of strange,” Rodgers said. “Then, he comes back with the GM, and I’m like ‘Alright.’ So we sit down in the office. And I think we’re going to have this long conversation. I flew across country. And 20 seconds in, he (Glenn) goes. . . Literally, I’m talking to the GM about something, he leans to the edge of the seat, ‘You sure you wanna play football?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ He says ‘We’re going in another direction at quarterback.’

“I was kind of shocked. I mean, not shocked because I thought it was a possibility, listen, they wanna move on, that’s totally fine, but shocked because I just flew across country, he could’ve told me this through the phone.”

Rodgers has a right to tell his side of the story.

But considering this story about the Jets moving on broke on February 9, why did he wait until April 17 to address it?

Why didn’t he go on with his favorite host a couple of months ago to set the record straight from his perspective?

Why revisit this now with the NFL universe laser-focused on the draft, which is a week away?

Why reopen these old wounds now?

Why not get this out of the way a couple of months ago?

What was his motivation to go scorched earth on the Jets now?

Strange timing.
