Cortland – Keyshawn Johnson is at Jets’ camp on an ESPN assignment.
He spoke to Santonio Holmes after practice about dealing with the press.
Holmes despises the media, and that is his prerogative. A lot of people do.
Keyshawn told him to ignore what is written and “if you are successful, you will have the last laugh.”
It’s great advice, but it’s probably not going to work.
The press conference Holmes conducted, right after his chat with Keyshawn, was loaded with tension.
His hate for the press is so deep-seated, it’s hard to just turn that off.
I think the best thing for Holmes to do is take the approach of baseball greats Eddie Murray and Steve Carlton – don’t talk to the press.
Or take the approach Bart Scott did last year – speak rarely.
