Yahoo Sports headline – Rex in trouble if Jets don’t re-sign Revis Dan Leberfeld

Here is the headline of a Yahoo Sports column – “Darrelle Revis’ exit would spell doom for Rex Ryan.”

So what that headline is saying, is that Revis is so good, that if the Jets lock him up long-term, he can save Ryan’s job.

First of all, Ryan’s job isn’t in jeopardy now – that angle is a media creation.

Secondly, while Revis is an excellent player, you can make a strong argument, the only player capable of being a job-saver, with his play, is a franchise quarterback.

The NFL is a quarterback-driven league.
